When we are installing a garden there are many things that we have to place in it. One that we enjoy to utilize the most is a solar water fountain. For under $1,000 you will be able to purchase a modest fountain and install it on your own. When you are finished you will be able to enjoy the beauty of it and watch as it lights up your garden each day. That luster will be gone though if you do not do what is necessary to keep it clean and working properly.
Something like this is perpetually being bombed by dirt, algae, leaves, and bugs. Without the right cleaning it will become stained, dirty, and might even break because of the damage that occurs. Cleaning it is simple and will just take a couple of hours once a month.
Start off by removing the water pump. Follow the directions in your user manual to make sure that you are doing it right and it does not fall apart. Withdraw the water using a drain plug. If you do not own this than utilize the pump and a long tube to siphon it out.
When the water is removed you have to take away any dirt, sticks, leaves, and bugs caught in it. Use an old rag to wipe down the inside of the fountain. Any crannies should be cleaned using a soft bristled toothbrush. This is also helpful at removing algae that has stuck on. If you find any discoloration or stains you must use white vinegar to get rid of them.
Take the cover off the pump and take out any rubble inside of it. Now that you have soundly cleaned the fountain it is now time to rinse the inside utilizing a hose. Be sure to replace the water and any treatments that assist to keep algae from growing inside of it.
